What Makes Content Connect?

Jun 16, 2025 | Content That Connects

…And why “just posting consistently” isn’t the whole story.

You’ve probably heard the advice: Post consistently. Show up every week. Keep the algorithm warm. And you know what? It’s not wrong.  But if your content doesn’t resonate, all that consistency becomes just… noise. Because consistency alone won’t grow a brand. Connection will.

So what actually makes content connect?

It’s not volume. It’s not clever hooks. It’s not perfect design (though beautiful things help).

Here’s what I believe creates content that connects:

1. Clarity

You have to know what you’re trying to say before anyone else can hear it.

  • If your message is muddy, your audience won’t fight to understand it.

  • If your copy is overstuffed with jargon or trying to please everyone, no one will feel like it’s for them.

Clarity invites trust. It tells your audience: “We know who we are—and how we can help.”

2. Care

People can feel when something was created in a rush just to check a box.
They can also feel when something was created with care.

Care isn’t about perfection. It’s about presence.
It’s showing up in your content with your full self—your point of view, your tone, your thoughtfulness.

3. A Point of View

Say something.

Content that just restates what everyone else is already saying? Forgettable.
Content that offers a new angle, a deeper truth, a hard-earned insight? Memorable.

You don’t have to be controversial. Just honest.

4. Consistency

Yes, of course it matters.
But don’t confuse consistent publishing with consistent perspective.

Your content should sound like it came from the same brain, the same values, the same center—even if you post once a week or once a month.

What this looks like at The Thicket Studio:

When I write for a client (or myself) I’m not chasing trends. I’m not performing for the algorithm. I’m crafting content that reflects something deeper than a data point: the heart of the brand. That’s exactly the work I do through Brand Messaging and Website Copywriting—helping brands find the words that connect.

It’s rooted. It’s intentional. And it’s meant to connect.

Before You Hit Publish, Ask:

  • Is this clear?

  • Is it rooted in care?

  • Does it reflect what I really believe?

  • Would someone feel a little more seen—or supported—after reading this?

If the answer is yes… you’re not just creating content. You’re building connection. And that’s what lasts.
